About the event

The Goddesses and Gods of Sussex bloom in our hedgerows, swim in our rivers and fly through our skies.  Come and hear their stories and follow their tracks. Learn how the 7 Sisters were named, why Skylarks love our chalk cliffs and why Avalon is behind every Sussex sea-mist.

Bringing together tales from her 3 books, ‘A Herba Mythica, The Myths and Folktales of Sacred Healing Plants,’ ‘Goddesses and Heroines, Women of Myth and Legend’ and ‘Sussex Folktales,’ Xanthe weaves together the stories and herbal remedies of the local landscape.

Xanthe Gresham Knight was Storyteller in Residence for the Chelsea Physic Garden for 17 years, regularly performs at the British Museum and The Smithsonian, is creator of The Goddess Lounge and Artistic Director of GuestHouse Storytellers. Despite performing in venues such as the Barbican, National, Cheltenham and Hay, she is just as happy telling in a field. She lives in Seaford with her husband Robin Knight with whom she wrote Sussex Folktales, her Bellefille Georgie, Roo the dog and Axle the cat.

Gresham is a truly great storyteller who unwraps each story like the petals of a lotus flower British Theatre Review
