About the event

Bestselling novelists Elizabeth Buchan and Isabelle Grey (V B Grey) will be in conversation discussing their novels featuring women playing their part in the Second World War: in the SOE, at Bletchley Park and in bomb-damaged London hospitals. Join us to think about how we write for ourselves and for our readers, and how we as readers respond to these stories of powerful women.


They have travelled all over Europe for research to see the landscapes and meet family members. They have friendships with former SOE agents and their descendents, including the daughter of two leading insurgents involved in the 1944 Warsaw uprising.


Together they will share their stories, talk about their research and how they write the stories they hear into their women protagonists.
