About the event

What makes chocolate so alluring? Why is it the inspiration for  endless culinary creativity? Food Historian Sam Bilton explores our  complex relationship with this versatile confection from its reputation  as an aphrodisiac to its reputed health properties and poisonous  possibilities.

Sam Bilton has held two wonderful evenings in The  Bookshop so far. First, the history of Gingerbread ( and this is my  favourite book title: 'First catch your Gingerbread'), and then last  year with her fascinating book 'Fool's Gold' about Saffron, dished out widely as a Christmas present, together with a little pot of saffron and some crocus bulbs!

This event is very kindly sponsored by CocoaLoco the fair trade, independent Chocolatiers based in Horsham!
